The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, has boldly declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its presidential candidate, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will not achieve up to 10% of the votes in Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at a luncheon organised in honour of candidates who emerged from the Rainbow Coalition, Wike expressed strong confidence in the coalition’s grassroots strength and its capacity to deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the state.“Atiku Abubakar in 2023 never got 10% in Rivers State even as the PDP candidate. It will be very disheartening if he gets 11% in the next election... We will make sure ADC will not have 10% here,” Wike stated.

The FCT Minister emphasised that Rivers people stand with performers and leaders committed to the state’s development, while dismissing the opposition’s chances.

He called on Rainbow Coalition members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls. This declaration underscores the intense political positioning and realignments currently taking place in Rivers State as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
