President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and directed the deployment of a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

The directive follows the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers from schools in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State by gunmen. A high-level federal delegation visited the affected communities today to assess the situation and convey the President’s commitment to the safe return of all victims.

As part of efforts to strengthen security in vulnerable forested areas, President Tinubu approved the recruitment of the 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government. The guards are expected to enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering, and operational support for security forces in combating criminal elements operating in the region.

President Tinubu has also ordered specialised tactical teams to intensify rescue operations and bring the perpetrators to justice. The President condemned the abduction of innocent school children and teachers in the strongest terms and assured families that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe rescue.

The Federal Government continues to work closely with the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies to address the security challenges in the area.
