The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured a warrant of arrest against Mr. Uche Nnaji, the immediate past Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, for alleged certificate forgery.
In a ruling delivered on Thursday by a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026, the court granted an ex parte motion filed by the ICPC. The order includes a bench warrant authorizing ICPC operatives, other law enforcement agents, or any private citizen to arrest Mr. Nnaji and hand him over to the Commission for investigation.
The court further granted the ICPC leave to declare the former minister wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms, and other public channels. The arrest warrant remains in force until Mr. Nnaji is apprehended and produced before the Commission.
This development follows allegations that Mr. Nnaji forged his university degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, which were submitted during his ministerial screening and confirmation process. He resigned from office shortly after the allegations were publicly exposed.
The ICPC reaffirms its commitment to combating corruption at all levels of government and ensuring that public office holders are held accountable. The Commission urges Mr. Nnaji to surrender himself immediately to the nearest ICPC office or law enforcement agency to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The ICPC will provide further updates as the matter progresses through the judicial process.
