Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria can produce another Miss World, describing the newly crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as a beauty with intellect and a worthy ambassador for the country.

Governor Diri made the declaration on Tuesday when Miss World Nigeria 2026 and her delegation paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Yenagoa.

“Nigeria can produce another Miss World. Tamunosoye Karibi-George has what it takes  beauty, brains, and a strong sense of purpose. She will make Bayelsa and Nigeria proud on the global stage,” the Governor stated.

He commended the beauty queen for emerging victorious among top contestants from across the country and for making Bayelsa State proud. Governor Diri assured her of the state government’s full support as she prepares to represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2026 pageant in Vietnam.

The Governor highlighted Karibi-George’s advocacy project, “Beyond Labels,” which focuses on empowering children with special needs, describing it as a testament to her compassion and leadership. He urged her to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence throughout her reign.

This comes 25 years after Agbani Darego made history as the first African to win the Miss World title in 2001. Governor Diri believes that with the right preparation and support, Nigeria can reclaim the crown.

He called on all stakeholders, including the private sector and well-meaning Nigerians, to rally behind Miss World Nigeria 2026 to ensure she competes favourably at the international level.
