Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has asserted that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, is not in the same league as President Tinubu and cannot match his leadership capacity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a recent statement, Onanuga emphasized President Tinubu’s proven track record of transformative governance, particularly during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, where he laid foundational infrastructure projects that continue to benefit the state today. He contrasted this with Obi’s eight years as Governor of Anambra State, which he described as lacking comparable lasting impact.
“Peter Obi is no match for President Bola Tinubu. They are not on the same level,” Onanuga declared. He further described Obi as a “copy-and-paste politician” who lacks original and authentic thinking needed for the complex challenges of leading Nigeria.
The presidential aide highlighted President Tinubu’s vision and execution in infrastructure development, economic reforms, and national progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that Nigeria requires a leader with the depth, experience, and innovative capacity that President Tinubu embodies.
Onanuga noted that while opposition figures may seek to position themselves for 2027, the realities of governance and verifiable achievements place President Tinubu in a distinctly superior category.
The Presidency remains focused on delivering tangible results for Nigerians and is confident in President Tinubu’s leadership as the country prepares for the next electoral cycle.
