Controversial street-pop sensation Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has thrown down the gauntlet to veteran musician Terry G, challenging him to a celebrity boxing match. Portable claims the bout would help revive the “Akpako Master’s” public profile.
The outspoken singer made the bold declaration during a recent appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds. While discussing his growing involvement in celebrity boxing and his upcoming rematch against actor Charles Okocha scheduled for July 31, Portable singled out Terry G as his preferred opponent.
“I want to fight Terry G. If I fight Terry G, people will remember him,” Portable declared, adding that a high-profile clash between the two would bring renewed attention to the veteran artist.
Portable, who has positioned himself as a key figure in popularizing celebrity boxing in Nigeria, boasted about the financial and career impact of his fights. “I have tried enough for Nigeria. I used my own career to build Nigerian boxing. I make ₦50 million to ₦100 million in a day,” he said.
The challenge comes on the heels of Portable’s mixed results in the ring. He previously defeated actor Charles Okocha in December 2023 but suffered a loss to skit maker Carter Efe in May 2026. His rematch with Okocha is highly anticipated.
Terry G is yet to respond publicly to the challenge. The two artists share a history of fan comparisons regarding their eccentric styles and larger-than-life personalities, though Terry G has previously pushed back against such parallels, emphasizing the longevity of his musical legacy.
