On the 250th anniversary of American independence, President Donald J. Trump warned that the core identity of the United States is facing a renewed and intensifying attack from forces seeking to erase the nation’s history, culture, and exceptional character.
“Today, as our country celebrates two and a half centuries since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, American identity is under renewed attack,” Trump stated. “We are being told that our borders don’t matter, our history is shameful, and our values are outdated. This is not progress it is a deliberate attempt to dissolve the sacred bonds that hold our republic together.”
Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump emphasized that the ideals enshrined in 1776 life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness remain the bedrock of American greatness. He highlighted what he described as unprecedented challenges including open-border policies, the erosion of national sovereignty, attacks on traditional values, and efforts to rewrite the nation’s founding story through divisive ideologies.
“America was not built by weak leaders or by those ashamed of our past,” Trump continued. “It was built by brave men and women who loved their country, believed in its promise, and were willing to defend it. On this 250th birthday, we must choose to renew our commitment to those principles or watch our identity slip away forever.”
Trump outlined a vision centered on: Securing the border and ending illegal immigration that he says undermines American communities and the rule of law. Restoring pride in American history and rejecting “woke” revisions that diminish the achievements of the Founding Fathers.
Promoting economic nationalism, energy dominance, and policies that put American citizens first. Unifying the country around shared values of liberty, merit, and self-reliance rather than identity politics.
The former President and 2024 election victor urged Americans to use the milestone anniversary as a moment of national reflection and recommitment.
“This is not just another Independence Day,” Trump said. “This is our Semiquincentennial a time to remember who we are, where we came from, and what we must do to ensure America remains the greatest nation in the history of the world.”
Trump’s remarks come amid nationwide celebrations marking 250 years since the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
