Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, are thrilled to announce the birth of their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.
Born on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Alec joins his older siblings: Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4. Both mother and baby are happy and healthy.
In a joint statement shared on social media, the Vice President and Second Lady said: “We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
The couple expressed deep gratitude to the doctors and staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their exceptional care.
This joyous occasion marks the first time in more than 150 years that a child has been born to a sitting U.S. Vice President. The last such event occurred in 1870 with Vice President Schuyler Colfax.
Vice President Vance, a longtime advocate for stronger families and encouraging Americans to have more children, views this addition to his family as a personal blessing amid his public service.
The Vance family, who met at Yale Law School and married in 2014, continues to balance their commitment to public service with a focus on family life. They are also preparing for more time in rural northern Virginia to provide the children with greater normalcy and privacy.
