The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the ongoing delivery of infrastructure projects across Abuja constitutes the strongest campaign message for the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday while inspecting the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba road projects, Wike stated that political activities would not distract the FCT Administration from completing key development projects in the territory.
“We are already campaigning with our performance. The major campaign is to provide the dividends of democracy. What are you going to tell the people when you have nothing to show? Our campaign is showing what we have done,” the Minister said.
He emphasised that voters are more interested in tangible results than political rhetoric, noting that the administration has fulfilled many of its promises through sustained infrastructure development.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Arterial Road N16, a critical route linking Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana. He disclosed that the contractor, CBC Global, had assured completion by January, and pledged adequate funding to meet the target.
The Minister also commended the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for its work on the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba road, which connects to the Abuja–Kaduna Highway. He noted that the company remained on track for a December completion despite weather-related challenges, and confirmed approval for the relocation of electricity poles to enable the installation of streetlights.
Wike maintained that the visible transformation across the FCT serves as the administration’s report card, adding that the government has no difficulty presenting its achievements to the people whenever the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) schedules the elections.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration to continue delivering projects without interruption, insisting that governance and infrastructure development would not be sacrificed for politics.
