Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, has sworn in the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Board Chairmen, and Permanent Members of the Rural Electrification Board.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Damaturu, and was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, politicians, captains of industry, family members of the appointees, and other dignitaries.
Governor Buni stated that the appointments were made in line with the constitutional responsibility of government to provide effective policy direction and improve service delivery. He emphasised that his administration prioritises competence, integrity, and productivity as key principles of effective governance.
The Governor noted that the government was deliberately combining the experience of seasoned public servants with the energy and creativity of younger professionals to meet the demands of modern governance. He urged the newly inaugurated officials to deploy their knowledge, experience, and expertise towards improving public service delivery and justifying the confidence reposed in them.
Highlighting some achievements of his administration, Governor Buni recalled the recruitment of 9,230 teachers and more than 14,000 health workers to strengthen the education and healthcare sectors. He added that the government had continued to invest in human capital development through training and retraining programmes for civil servants to enhance manpower capacity across the state.
The Governor assured residents that his administration would sustain efforts towards completing ongoing legacy projects, strengthening institutional reforms, expanding economic opportunities, improving agriculture and healthcare delivery, and advancing other development programmes across Yobe State.
Those sworn in include: Secretary to the State Government: Dr. Mohammed Goje. Permanent Secretaries: Abdullahi Barde Kukuri, Liman Ibrahim Ali, Hajiya Hadiza Sabo, and Zainab Abdu Saleh.
Special Advisers: Alhaji Saleh Suleiman (Aji Sale Suleiman), Hon. Abdu Mamman Zoto, Alhaji Mamman Musa, Engr. Mu’azu Ya’u Jumbam, and Dr. Babagana Mohammed Adam
Board/Commission Chairmen: Engr. Mustapha Umar Goniri (Yobe State Rural Electrification Commission), Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani (Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission YSIEC), and Alhaji Modu Sanda Gulani (Teaching Service Board), alongside Permanent Members of the Rural Electrification Board.
Governor Buni charged the appointees to discharge their duties with dedication, transparency, and accountability, in line with his administration’s commitment to good governance and sustainable development.
