The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke of the Accord Party, the winner of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
The declaration was made on Sunday morning at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo by the Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
According to the official results, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes. The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Najeem Salaam, came a distant third with 17,180 votes.
Adeleke secured victory in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while the APC candidate won in the remaining 11.
INEC recorded the following overall figures for the election:
Registered voters: 2,339,544
Accredited voters: 1,010,684
Total votes cast: 1,005,800
Valid votes: 985,079
Rejected votes: 20,721
In declaring the result, Professor Ogunwole stated: “I, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, hereby declare that Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The election, held on Saturday, 15 August 2026, was keenly contested. The declaration followed the overnight collation of results from all 30 local government areas of the state.
With this victory, Governor Ademola Adeleke has been returned for a second term in office.
