Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has erupted in celebration following the official declaration of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.

Shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results on Sunday morning, Davido took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and posted a joyful message: “WE DID IT UNC !!!” alongside a video of his ecstatic reaction.

In the clip, the Grammy-nominated singer is seen watching the live declaration by INEC Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole. As Adeleke was formally returned elected, Davido jumped up in excitement, knelt down, and eventually lay on the floor in pure celebration, while members of his team cheered and congratulated him.

Davido, who played a highly visible role in his uncle’s re-election campaign under the Accord Party, had remained vocal throughout the electoral process, mobilising support and expressing confidence in a victory for the incumbent governor.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party secured 511,067 votes to defeat Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas.

The victory guarantees Governor Adeleke a second term in office after a closely contested election held on Saturday, 15 August 2026.

Davido’s emotional celebration has further amplified the jubilation among supporters of the re-elected governor across Osun State and beyond.
