The United States Mint today began offering rolls and bags of the 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin and confirmed that the coins are entering circulation. The release marks a key element of the Mint’s yearlong celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

The golden-colored $1 coins feature a portrait of President Donald J. Trump on the obverse (heads side), accompanied by the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the dual date “1776 ~ 2026.” United States Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed the portrait, drawing inspiration from an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok.

The reverse (tails side) displays the Presidential Seal: an eagle clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, with a shield on its breast and a banner reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak.

The shield bears the additional inscription “250” to commemorate the Semiquincentennial. Other inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The reverse design was created by former Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro.

The coins are composed of a copper-based alloy with a manganese-brass outer layer that gives them their distinctive golden appearance (6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel, balanced copper). They weigh 8.10 grams, measure 26.49 mm in diameter, and have a plain edge. All were struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a circulating finish and no mint mark. They are legal tender.

Product limits are 150,000 rolls and 50,000 bags. An initial household order limit of two of each product applies until 2 p.m. ET on September 3, 2026.

Of particular interest to collectors, 250,000 of the coins were specially struck on July 4, 2026, and carry a “July 4th” privy mark. These privy-marked coins have been randomly interspersed among the rolls and bags.

The coins were authorized under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330) and related provisions allowing the Secretary of the Treasury to issue $1 coins with designs emblematic of the United States Semiquincentennial during calendar year 2026.

“The designs on this coin commemorate America’s Semiquincentennial through its depiction of America’s past, present and future,” Mint Director Paul Hollis previously stated. “I am honored to be a part of this historic milestone in our Nation’s coinage and its history.”
