The Delta State Police Command has successfully apprehended five individuals suspected of kidnapping a 70-year-old woman and demanding a ransom of N7 million for her release. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation in the Ughelli South Local Government Area, marking a significant victory in the ongoing battle against kidnapping and violent crime in the region.
The suspects, identified as members of a notorious kidnapping ring, were arrested after police received intelligence regarding their activities. The operation led to the recovery of firearms and other incriminating evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
The victim was abducted from her home last week, and her family was coerced into paying the ransom under threats of violence. After the payment was made, police acted swiftly to trace the kidnappers, ultimately leading to their capture.

We are dedicated to eradicating kidnapping and all forms of violent crime in Delta State. Our officers are working tirelessly to ensure that criminals are brought to justice and that our communities feel safe," said the Commissioner of Police.
