Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has come out in defense of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu amid ongoing criticisms over the state of insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organized by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C. on June 23, the revered cleric stated that the President has fulfilled his constitutional responsibility as Commander-in-Chief by issuing clear directives to the nation’s security forces.
“I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and fight,” Pastor Adeboye said.
The respected spiritual leader drew a parallel with global leaders, noting that presidents and commanders-in-chief give orders and expect their military to execute them, rather than participating in combat themselves. He emphasized fairness in assessing the President’s role while acknowledging the gravity of the security challenges facing the country.
Pastor Adeboye’s comments come as Nigeria continues to grapple with various security threats, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism in different parts of the country. He has previously urged decisive action, including giving security chiefs timelines to deliver results or step aside.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God remains committed to praying for peace, stability, and good governance in Nigeria.
