The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a comprehensive, future-focused curriculum for basic, senior secondary, and technical education, marking a transformative step in the nation’s educational landscape.
Announced by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the revised curriculum was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders including the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Professor Ahmad emphasized that the curriculum overhaul goes beyond reducing subject overload—it prioritizes deeper learning, practical skills, and relevance to today’s global demands. “This is not just a revision; it’s a reinvention of how we prepare our learners for the future,” she stated.
The Ministry assured that the implementation of the new curriculum will be closely monitored to ensure effective adoption and a smooth transition across schools nationwide.
