The Kaduna State Government has issued a strong and unequivocal warning to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, condemning his recent actions and statements as deliberate attempts to destabilize the peace and progress achieved under the current administration.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, the government accused El-Rufai of engaging in “provocation, manipulation, and incitement,” particularly following the defeat of his political allies in the August 16 by-elections.

“Rather than accept this democratic outcome with dignity, El-Rufai has chosen to respond with sabotage,” the statement read.

The government cited an “illegal and chaotic meeting” convened by El-Rufai on August 30, which reportedly descended into violence, including gunfire that endangered innocent citizens. It further condemned El-Rufai’s televised claims that federal and state authorities were bribing bandits, calling the remarks “malicious lies” intended to undermine security efforts and incite public unrest.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has also dismissed El-Rufai’s allegations as baseless, reaffirming that no government agency has paid ransom to bandits and highlighting the significant security gains made in troubled areas such as Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Kajuru, and Kachia.

Dr. Shuaibu emphasized that the current administration under Governor Uba Sani is committed to inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and development, contrasting it with what he described as El-Rufai’s legacy of “division and intimidation.”

“This Government will not fold its arms and allow a discredited former leader, who left the state in ruins, to ignite chaos and plunge the state into another era of ethno-religious tension, insecurity, and economic stagnation,” the Commissioner stated.
