A coalition of prominent leaders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a formal list of demands to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of its scheduled National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15–16, 2025.
Meeting under the banner of Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP, the group emphasized that the convention’s legitimacy hinges on adherence to principles of equity, justice, and the rule of law—values they say are foundational to the PDP’s identity.
The communique, read by former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, warned that failure to meet these conditions would render the convention “invalid,” as it would disenfranchise legitimate party members.
Among the attendees were former governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ayo Fayose (Ekiti), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and other senior party figures including PDP National Secretary Sam Anyanwu and House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda.
The group stressed that the PDP is at a “defining crossroads,” and urged the leadership to prioritize unity through transparency and respect for judicial decisions. “Unity cannot be built on disenfranchisement, exclusion, or the neglect of valid judicial pronouncements,” the communique stated.
