The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a resounding call to 10,000 newly graduating constables, urging them to serve Nigeria with patriotism, professionalism, and integrity as they officially join the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade held across various Police Colleges and Training Schools nationwide, the IGP emphasized the critical role of the new officers in strengthening national security and restoring public trust in law enforcement.

“You are not just joining a force—you are stepping into a sacred duty to protect lives, uphold justice, and defend the dignity of our nation,” Egbetokun declared. “Let your conduct reflect the highest standards of discipline, courage, and service.”

The 10,000 constables represent the latest cohort recruited under the Federal Government’s Police Reform and Expansion Initiative, aimed at addressing manpower shortages and enhancing community policing efforts. Their training focused on modern policing techniques, human rights, cybercrime awareness, and counter-terrorism strategies, preparing them for the complex challenges of contemporary law enforcement.

The IGP also warned against misconduct, corruption, and abuse of power, stressing that the Force will not tolerate any actions that undermine its credibility or violate citizens’ rights.

“The badge you wear is a symbol of honor. Do not betray it. Nigeria needs you to be brave, fair, and accountable,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, representatives from the Ministry of Police Affairs, and families of the graduating officers. Many expressed pride and optimism about the new generation of constables entering service.
