A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano State has ordered the remand of popular TikTok personality, Mai Wushirya, following the circulation of a video deemed “indecent” by authorities. The video, which features Mai Wushirya and an unidentified woman engaging in behavior considered contrary to public morality, has sparked widespread debate across social media platforms.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Halima Baffa, ruled that Mai Wushirya be held in custody pending further investigation and trial. The female partner featured in the video has also been summoned to appear before the court to answer charges related to the same incident.

According to the Kano State Hisbah Board, which initiated the complaint, the video violates provisions of the state’s moral conduct laws and Islamic principles governing public decency. The Board emphasized its commitment to upholding community values and discouraging content that may negatively influence youth behavior.

“This matter is not just about social media content—it’s about preserving the moral fabric of our society,” said a spokesperson for the Hisbah Board. “We urge content creators to be mindful of the cultural and religious sensitivities of our people.”

Mai Wushirya, known for his comedic skits and large online following, has yet to issue a public statement. Legal representatives for both parties are expected to present their defense at the next hearing scheduled for later this month.
