The Nigerian military has announced a major victory in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign in the North East, confirming that troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed more than 50 terrorists and repelled multiple coordinated attacks across Borno and Yobe States.

According to a statement released by Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), the simultaneous assaults occurred between midnight and 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, targeting military positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, all within Sectors 1 and 2 of the Joint Operations Area.

“In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and professionally repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy, decisive and bloody blow,” Lt.-Col. Uba stated.

The military confirmed that the operations were supported by precision airstrikes from the Air Component of OPHK, which played a critical role in neutralizing the insurgents. In addition to the fatalities, troops recovered a significant cache of weapons including 38 AK-47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG tubes, 2 GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition.

Sources within the military also revealed that over 70 wounded terrorists fled the scene, leaving behind their weapons and equipment. The swift and coordinated response by Nigerian forces has been praised as a testament to the improved operational synergy between ground and air units.

This latest success comes amid renewed efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region, particularly factions of Boko Haram and ISWAP. The military reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North East and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
