President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a letter to the Nigerian Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The letter, read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was referred to the Committee of the Whole for legislative consideration.
Dr. Doro’s nomination follows the recent appointment of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July 2025.
“In compliance with the provisions of Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro for confirmation,” President Tinubu stated in his letter.
The President expressed confidence in Dr. Doro’s qualifications and urged the Senate to expedite the confirmation process in the interest of national service and continuity.
Dr. Doro, a seasoned administrator and development expert, is expected to bring fresh energy to the federal cabinet, particularly in areas related to humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.
