Sterling Bank Plc has announced a bold move to eliminate account maintenance fees across all personal banking accounts, reinforcing its commitment to customer-centric innovation and financial inclusion.
In a statement released by the bank’s Corporate Communications Department, Sterling Bank revealed that the decision is part of a broader strategy to ease the financial burden on everyday Nigerians and encourage more people to participate in the formal banking system.
“We believe banking should empower, not penalize,” said Abubakar Suleiman, Managing Director and CEO of Sterling Bank. “Removing account maintenance fees is our way of saying we’re listening to our customers and responding with meaningful action.”
Effective immediately, customers will no longer incur monthly charges for maintaining savings or current accounts. The bank emphasized that this change will not affect the quality of service or access to digital banking platforms, ATMs, and other financial products.
Sterling Bank has long positioned itself as a challenger brand in Nigeria’s financial sector, known for its agile approach to banking and its focus on sectors critical to national development, including health, education, agriculture, renewable energy, and transportation.
