The Bayelsa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has officially declared Levi Anyanwu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, missing. Anyanwu, who was posted to serve at the Ijaw National Academy in Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, was last seen on October 8, 2025.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anyanwu’s disappearance. Authorities are working closely with community members and relevant stakeholders to gather information and expedite efforts to locate him.

Preliminary findings indicate that Anyanwu had complained of illness and was taken to the Kaiama Referral Hospital on October 4, where he was treated and discharged the following day. On October 6, he reportedly vanished after visiting fellow Jehovah’s Witness members, Mr. and Mrs. Wisdom George, who confirmed that he left their residence shortly after arriving.

The NYSC Directorate in Bayelsa has expressed deep concern over the incident and is collaborating with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safe return of the corps member. The Director-General of NYSC has urged all corps members in the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest authorities.
