The Office of the First Lady has called for renewed, unified action to safeguard children across the country from the alarming rise in sexual abuse, stressing that the protection of minors must become a national priority.

Speaking at a high level advocacy event focused on child safety and wellbeing, the First Lady emphasized that no society can thrive when its children are left vulnerable to such grave violations. She described the protection of children as a shared responsibility that requires collaboration between families, schools, religious institutions, government agencies, and the wider public.

“The safety of our children cannot be negotiated or postponed,” the First Lady stated. “We must come together parents, teachers, policymakers, community leaders, and every citizen to ensure that no child suffers the trauma and lifelong scars of sexual abuse. This fight is not for a few; it is for all of us.”

The First Lady further urged digital platforms, media houses, and influencers to join the effort by amplifying safe practices, discouraging harmful content, and promoting responsible reporting on cases involving minors.

She reaffirmed her commitment to championing child protection initiatives through her office and ongoing advocacy programs, including partnerships aimed at empowering families, training teachers, and expanding access to psychosocial support for affected children.

“Our nation must rise with one voice to say: No more silence. No more stigma. No more abuse. Every child deserves to grow up safe, confident, and hopeful,” she concluded.
