Internationally acclaimed artist Davido today used the occasion of his 33rd birthday, celebrated in the United States, to issue a powerful call for unity and calm in his homeland: "Our people deserve peace."
In a statement released to fans and the media, Davido said that as he reflects on another year, his foremost hope is for safety, stability and healing for communities across Nigeria and the wider region. He urged leaders, civic actors and citizens to prioritize dialogue, de-escalation and constructive solutions that protect lives and livelihoods.
"Our people deserve peace," Davido said. "As I celebrate this milestone with loved ones, I am thinking of the families and communities who need peace the most. We must all work together — leaders, influencers and the public — to build the future our people deserve."
Davido said he will continue to use his public platform to raise awareness of the human impact of conflict and to encourage sustained efforts toward reconciliation and community support.
