The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to take immediate and decisive action to eliminate terrorists and their sponsors amid rising international concern over Nigeria’s security situation.
Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp, Pastor Adeboye addressed recent warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to withdraw aid and consider military intervention if the Nigerian government fails to curb what he described as a “Christian genocide” in the country.
“This is not the time for apportioning blame,” Adeboye stated. “Our President inherited this problem — it started before him. But now is the time to act.” He urged President Bola Tinubu to issue a three-month ultimatum to the newly appointed service chiefs to eliminate both terrorists and their financiers, regardless of their influence or status.
Adeboye emphasized that Nigeria must not rely on foreign powers for its internal security, warning that global superpowers such as China and Russia would likely remain passive if the U.S. were to take military action. “They would only talk,” he cautioned, urging the government to act diplomatically, swiftly, and wisely.
The respected cleric also recalled his past private counsel to former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his earlier warnings about escalating violence were not heeded. He stressed that the current administration must not repeat the same mistake.
Adeboye’s remarks come at a critical time as Nigeria faces mounting pressure from the international community to address its security challenges. His call adds a powerful moral voice to the growing demand for accountability and action in the fight against terrorism.
