A suicide bombing at the headquarters of Pakistan’s Federal Constabulary in Peshawar has left three officers dead and several others wounded. The attack occurred early Monday morning when assailants targeted the main gate of the paramilitary force’s compound on Saddar Road, one of the city’s busiest routes.
According to police officials, one attacker detonated explosives at the entrance while two others attempted to storm the facility. Security forces responded swiftly, killing the additional assailants before they could inflict further casualties.
Authorities confirmed that the three officers killed were stationed at the gate, while at least four to five others sustained injuries in the blast. Rescue teams and police units immediately cordoned off the area, and a clearance operation was launched to ensure no unexploded ordnance remained. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though officials noted that the incident comes amid a surge in militant activity in Pakistan’s northwestern region bordering Afghanistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Zulfiqar Hameed stated that the attack was contained quickly due to the rapid response of officers on duty, preventing what could have been a far more devastating assault.
