The All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State chapter, today announced a significant leadership change as the State Executive Committee (SEC) voted to remove Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba from his position as Chairman. This decision comes after months of internal disputes, allegations of financial mismanagement, and concerns over the prolonged closure of the party secretariat.
Out of 32 SEC members, 30 voted in favor of Eba’s removal, citing the need to restore transparency, accountability, and unity within the party. The SEC has directed Deputy Chairman Ntufam Ekum Ekok Ojogu to assume the role of Acting Chairman until the APC National Secretariat formally ratifies the decision.
Speaking after his appointment, Ojogu pledged to unify the party and adopt an open-door leadership style. He assured members that all outstanding entitlements would be addressed promptly and emphasized accessibility, stating: “My door is always open, and my lines are always on. Whether by phone, WhatsApp, or personal meeting, you can reach me at all times.”
Chief Kelvin Njong, Chairman of the APC in Boki and spokesperson for the 18-chapter chairmen, explained that the removal followed extensive consultations and formal petitions submitted to the national leadership. He noted that the action was necessary to halt what many described as a deepening crisis within the state chapter.
The APC leadership in Cross River commended party members for their solidarity and loyalty during this transition, stressing that the move was aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring the party remains focused on delivering for the people of Cross River State.
