Governor Bassey Otu today unveiled a 32-day free bus service to support residents during the festive Christmas period. This initiative aims to ease travel costs and promote family gatherings amid economic challenges.

The complimentary transport program covers the entire Calabar metropolis. It also extends to major routes and communities across Cross River State. Buses operate daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., ensuring safe and reliable service for all users.

Key inter-city routes include Calabar to Ogoja, Calabar to Ikom, and Calabar to Obudu. The state government has deployed a fleet of buses to handle the increased demand during the holidays.

"Governor Otu's introduction of free transportation services is a heartfelt gesture of humanity," said Emmanuel Akiba, the state's Commissioner for Transportation. "This program alleviates hardship and brings sweetness to the Yuletide season for Cross Riverians."

The initiative builds on previous successful phases, including a free shuttle service praised by local drivers. Residents are encouraged to utilize the service responsibly to maximize its benefits.
