Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has issued a statement faulting recent criticisms leveled against the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, describing them as “shameless, nauseating, and orchestrated by opposition elements.”
Fani-Kayode emphasized that since assuming office, Matawalle has demonstrated exceptional loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has shown unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
He noted that the partnership between Matawalle and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has yielded significant gains in counter-terrorism efforts, including the elimination of more terrorists in the past two years than in the previous eight years combined.
“The vicious media campaign against Matawalle is not only unfair but also undermines the sacrifices of a man who has given his all to secure our nation. His loyalty to President Tinubu and his dedication to the fight against terrorism remain unmatched,” Fani-Kayode stated.
He further argued that calls for Matawalle’s resignation are baseless and politically motivated, stressing that the Defence Minister has played a pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
Chief Fani-Kayode reaffirmed his confidence in Matawalle’s leadership and called on the public to recognize the progress made in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity. He described the ongoing attacks as politically motivated distractions that do not reflect the reality of Matawalle’s contributions to national defense.
