Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Governor of Kano State, has returned to Nigeria following a well-deserved vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His arrival marks the beginning of a series of strategic consultations aimed at addressing recent political developments in Kano State and strengthening the APC's presence in the region.
Dr. Ganduje arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m. aboard an Emirates Airlines flight. He subsequently proceeded to Abuja at 8:00 p.m. to commence his engagements.
The consultations will focus on reviewing the evolving political landscape in Kano, including wide-ranging discussions with party leaders, stakeholders, and key figures within the APC. These meetings are intended to foster inclusive dialogue, enhance party structures, and support democratic consolidation.
Additionally, Dr. Ganduje is expected to actively participate in the ongoing APC nationwide electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise, an initiative he pioneered during his tenure as National Chairman to modernize the party's database and ensure credible, accessible membership records.
This return comes amid growing speculation in Kano about potential shifts in the political arena, including rumors of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's planned defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC. Dr. Ganduje's engagements are poised to address these developments and position the APC for continued growth and unity in the state.
