The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran today affirmed the nation's stance on regional stability amid escalating international tensions. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that Iran does not seek conflict but remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty if necessary. This statement comes in response to recent threats from the United States regarding ongoing domestic protests.

During a conference with foreign ambassadors in Tehran, Araghchi emphasized Iran's position. "The Islamic Republic of Iran is not seeking war but is fully prepared for war," he stated, as broadcast on state television. He further expressed openness to negotiations, provided they occur on fair terms with mutual respect and equal rights.

The remarks follow US President Donald Trump's warnings of potential military intervention if Iran continues its crackdown on protesters. Protests have erupted across Iran over economic hardships, resulting in reports of casualties and arrests. Trump claimed that Iranian leaders have reached out to him for talks, suggesting a possible meeting is in the works.

Araghchi rejected any notion of external interference in Iran's internal affairs. He highlighted that while Iran prioritizes dialogue to resolve disputes, it will not compromise on its national security. The minister called on the international community to respect Iran's sovereignty and engage constructively.

International reactions have varied. Germany has condemned the handling of protests, while China opposes foreign involvement and advocates for stability. Iran's government urges all parties to pursue peaceful resolutions to avoid further escalation.
