Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced the imminent commencement of reconstruction works on Uratta Road and Old Express Road in Aba, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to fully restore the city's infrastructure and boost socioeconomic activities.

During a recent church service at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Abayi Ariaria, Governor Otti emphasized his administration's commitment to revitalizing Aba, which has suffered from years of infrastructure deficits. "We have been trying to recover Aba, and I think that we have recovered Aba.

But there is still some work to do. So, very soon, we will flag off the reconstruction of Uratta Road. And as we are flagging off the reconstruction of Uratta Road, we are also flagging off the reconstruction of Old Express Road," said Governor Otti.

"You can be sure it will be done the same way we do our things – very solid – by solid construction companies. I am sure that very soon, we will complete those so that we can complete the full recovery of Aba.” He added.

This fresh drive builds on the administration's recent achievements, including the restoration of power supply to communities in Asa Land after over nine years of blackout, and the commissioning of multiple roads equipped with functional streetlights.

The reconstruction of Uratta and Old Express roads will be executed by reputable construction firms, ensuring durability and high standards that align with the state's vision for sustainable development.

Governor Otti also used the occasion to urge Aba residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration exercise, highlighting the importance of civic engagement in sustaining progress.

"I want to appeal to you; if you see the number in Aba and the number of votes that come out from Aba, it is like darkness and daylight. So, I want to charge you: if you have not registered, please go and register. It is important; the only way you can ensure that we do not go back to Egypt is for you to vote," he added.
