The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of Gafaru Rasaki, a resident of Sagamu, for the unlawful possession of four human heads allegedly exhumed from a local cemetery. The suspect was apprehended following a routine patrol by operatives in the Sagamu area, where suspicious activity led to the discovery of the gruesome items.
According to a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrest occurred on Thursday, and preliminary investigations suggest the heads were intended for ritual purposes.
"The suspect has been taken into custody, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover any accomplices and the full extent of this crime," Babaseyi stated. "The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to eradicating ritualistic practices and ensuring the safety of all residents."
Gafaru Rasaki faces charges related to the desecration of graves and unlawful possession of human remains. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station and emphasized that such acts violate Nigerian law and will be met with swift justice.
The Command reassures the community that enhanced patrols and intelligence gathering efforts are ongoing to prevent similar incidents. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
