President Donald Trump announced that indirect talks between the United States and Iran proceeded positively during a mediated session in Oman. Trump shared these remarks with reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

The discussions marked a significant step amid heightened tensions in the region. Trump stated, "We likewise had very good talks on Iran." He further emphasized Iran's eagerness for an agreement, saying, "Iran looks like they want to make a deal very badly – as they should."

The President indicated that follow-up negotiations would occur early next week after consultations with respective capitals.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed the optimistic tone from Muscat. Araghchi described the talks as a "good start" and noted a "positive atmosphere" during the day long indirect dialogue.

He confirmed that Iran expected additional rounds of negotiations with the United States. Araghchi added that the discussions focused exclusively on nuclear matters and that decisions on proceeding would follow internal consultations.

Trump reiterated that the administration remained in "no rush" to finalize a deal. He outlined key conditions, including Iran's agreement to "no nuclear weapons," and warned of "steep" consequences should negotiations fail.

This development comes as both nations navigate fears of potential conflict, with the Oman-hosted talks viewed cautiously as a pathway to de-escalation.

The White House continues to prioritize diplomatic solutions while maintaining a firm stance on national security interests.
