Former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami Declares: “I Have No Regrets Over My Actions as Minister”

Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has publicly affirmed his unwavering conviction in the decisions and actions he took during his tenure in office.


In a recent statement following his release from custody, Malami expressed pride in his service to the nation and made it clear that he harbors no regrets whatsoever regarding his conduct as a minister.


“I have no regrets regarding what I did during my time as a minister,” Malami stated firmly. He emphasized that all his actions were undertaken in the best interest of Nigeria and in line with his responsibilities at the time.


The former AGF also reiterated his determination to vigorously defend himself against the allegations leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He described certain aspects of his recent experience including detention as violations of his rights, while accepting the challenges as part of divine will. 


Malami vowed to pursue justice through all legitimate channels, describing his ongoing legal battle as “just beginning.”


Malami extended heartfelt appreciation to his family, political associates, friends, and supporters who stood by him throughout what he described as a difficult period.


He remains committed to upholding the rule of law and contributing to Nigeria's progress, confident that history will vindicate his stewardship.
