Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has called on political appointees in his administration who harbor ambitions for elective positions in the 2027 general elections to publicly declare their intentions without delay.
The Governor emphasized that such openness aligns with principles of transparency, allows for proper planning within the administration, and strengthens the democratic process.
He specifically directed that any aspirations for elective offices should be pursued on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party under which the current administration was elected and continues to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Oyo State.
In a statement issued today by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde reiterated his commitment to fostering a level playing field and maintaining focus on governance and service delivery until the end of his tenure.
He noted that early declarations would enable the administration to make necessary adjustments while ensuring continuity in the execution of ongoing projects and programs aimed at transforming Oyo State.
"Those with genuine interest in serving the people through elective positions should step forward boldly and declare their intentions. We remain committed to the PDP as the vehicle for progressive politics in Oyo State," the Governor stated.
Governor Makinde further encouraged appointees to balance their ambitions with dedication to their current roles, underscoring that performance in office remains the best foundation for any future political endeavor.
This directive comes amid rising political activities nationwide as the countdown to the 2027 general elections intensifies.
The Governor's administration remains focused on infrastructure development, economic growth, education, healthcare, and security, even as political conversations gain momentum.
