Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commended his nephew, Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke (popularly known as Davido), for proudly projecting the Adeleke family name, their rich cultural heritage, and Osun State during a standout performance at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026 in California, United States.

The governor’s praise comes in reaction to a powerful stage introduction at Davido’s set on the Gobi Stage, where a traditional Yoruba panegyric (oríkì) of Ede Davido’s hometown in Osun State was recited amid an electrifying atmosphere of red-and-yellow visuals, pyrotechnics, and synchronised performers.

In a statement posted on his X handle alongside the video of the moment, Governor Adeleke described the occasion as another proud milestone for the family and the state.

“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido putting the family, our heritage and state on the global map,” the governor stated.

Davido, the only Nigerian artist on the official 2026 Coachella lineup, delivered a high-energy performance featuring fan favourites such as Dami Duro, Skelewu, Aye, If, and With You. He further energised the crowd by bringing out fellow Nigerian star Adekunle Gold for their collaborative hit High, turning the tent into a vibrant celebration of Afrobeats culture.

Governor Adeleke noted that the inclusion of the oríkì in the international performance highlights the deep cultural roots of the Adeleke family and serves as a significant promotion of Osun State’s heritage on one of the world’s biggest music platforms.

The governor extended his continued support to Davido and congratulated him on flying the flag of Nigeria, the Adeleke dynasty, and Osun State with excellence and pride.
