Senator Ibrahim, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from the party, citing the escalating wave of banditry across northern Nigeria and what he described as systemic leadership failure at both party and national levels.

In a strongly worded statement issued today, the senator announced his immediate exit from the APC after years of loyal service. He expressed profound disappointment over the party’s inability to tackle the security crisis that has continued to ravage communities, particularly in the North-West and North-Central regions.

“I have served my constituents and the APC with dedication and integrity, but I can no longer remain silent or complicit in the face of worsening banditry and leadership failure,” Senator Ibrahim said. “Our people are being killed, kidnapped, and displaced on a daily basis. Schools are closed, farms are abandoned, and fear has become the new normal in many communities. Yet the leadership of this party has offered nothing but excuses, empty promises, and political rhetoric. Enough is enough.”

The senator highlighted the sharp rise in banditry incidents, including mass abductions, cattle rustling, and attacks on villages, which he said have intensified despite repeated government assurances. He accused the APC leadership of prioritizing internal power struggles and personal ambitions over the urgent need for effective governance and security.

“Leadership is not about holding office; it is about delivering results. When lives are lost daily and the government appears helpless or indifferent, staying in such a party becomes a betrayal of the people who elected me,” he added. “I owe my loyalty first to the citizens of my senatorial district and to Nigeria, not to any political party that has lost its way.”

Senator Ibrahim did not immediately disclose his next political destination but affirmed that he remains committed to serving his constituents and will continue to advocate for decisive action against insecurity, good governance, and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. He called on other well-meaning leaders within and outside the APC to join the fight for a better Nigeria.

The defection is expected to send ripples through the political landscape as the nation prepares for future electoral cycles, with many observers viewing it as a sign of deepening discontent within the ruling party over its handling of security and governance issues.
