Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and other key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The endorsement came during a strategic caucus meeting of the Ogun State APC held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta on Monday, April 13, 2026. Governor Dapo Abiodun officially announced Senator Adeola’s adoption as the party’s flag bearer, a decision supported by major stakeholders including former Governors Chief Olusegun Osoba, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as well as the state party chairman and other leaders.
In his reaction, Senator Adeola commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the APC family in Ogun State. He also extended appreciation to Governor Abiodun for his inclusive approach and to the broader party leadership for the unity and consensus demonstrated at the meeting.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his fatherly guidance and to Governor Dapo Abiodun and all our leaders Chief Olusegun Osoba, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and others for this strong show of unity,” Senator Adeola stated. “This endorsement is not just for me; it is a call to service for the people of Ogun State. I pledge not to let Ogun State or our great party down.”
Senator Adeola, who currently represents the Ogun West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, brings a wealth of legislative experience, having previously served as Senator for Lagos West. A Chartered Accountant by training, he is known for his commitment to infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and constituency service.
The Ogun APC caucus described the decision as a strategic move to consolidate the party’s gains and ensure continued progress and development across the state’s three senatorial districts. The endorsement has been widely hailed as a unifying step that reflects broad consensus among party stakeholders.
