A visibly distressed Nigerian man staged a solitary protest today at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, holding a placard that boldly declared: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”
The unidentified protester, dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, paced the entrance of the secretariat while publicly airing his grievances. He claimed he sold his house to fund and support the party’s efforts during the 2023 general elections, only to be abandoned afterward, leaving him in severe financial and emotional distress.
“I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC. Because of the work I worked for APC,” he stated during the protest. Pointing to his party shirt when asked who sent him, he added, “These are the people that sent me. This is the work I did for APC and at the end of it, no reward. Rather, the CSO threatened to shoot me and nothing will happen.”
The man further alleged that, out of desperation over his inability to pay his children’s school fees, he left his children with the APC’s Chief Security Officer (CSO). “Since yesterday, my children, I don’t know where they are. I dropped my children with the CSO and APC because I cannot take care of them again,” he said.
The roughly 30-second video of the incident, captured in bright daylight, shows the man repeatedly raising his placard and voicing his frustrations as security personnel and bystanders looked on. No APC official reportedly came out to address him during the protest.
The video first circulated on social media on Thursday night and quickly went viral after being shared widely on X (formerly Twitter).
As of the time of this release, the APC has not issued any official statement regarding the incident or the protester’s claims.
This event highlights the personal hardships some political supporters face in the aftermath of intense election cycles and raises questions about party loyalty, rewards for grassroots contributions, and the welfare of dedicated members.
