The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will suffer a massive defeat in the 2027 general elections, provided Nigerians are allowed to vote in a free and fair contest.
Speaking in a recent interview, Senator Dickson, a former Governor of Bayelsa State and current Senator representing Bayelsa West, highlighted the widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians with the current administration’s performance. He emphasized that the aspirations of the people have not been met, citing challenges such as insecurity, economic hardship, and hunger affecting citizens across the country.
“As leader of the NDC, and as a Nigerian who knows the feelings and yearnings of Nigerians, and who also knows that their aspirations have not been met, we believe that the APC government, the APC as a party, not just the President (Tinubu), will be defeated massively,” Senator Dickson stated.
He called on electoral authorities and the judiciary to ensure a level playing field, urging them not to allow desperate politicians to use legal or institutional mechanisms to undermine the will of the people. “Allow every party that wants to contest. You can only defeat them in an electoral contest. So, let us have a free and fair election,” he added.
Senator Dickson positioned the upcoming election as a referendum on the APC’s governance, noting that the NDC remains open to constructive conversations and coalitions with like-minded opposition forces to present a credible alternative to Nigerians. The party’s platform is committed to restoring hope, good governance, and addressing the critical needs of citizens.
The NDC National Leader reaffirmed his party’s readiness for the electoral battle, stating that the next election represents a clear choice between the ruling APC and the collective will of Nigerians seeking better leadership.
