Suspected bandits have abducted the wife and son of Alhaji Yusuf Alhasan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Yauri Local Government Area in Kebbi State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 22, 2026, when armed gunmen stormed Alhaji Alhasan’s residence in the Low-Cost area of Yauri around 1:00 a.m. The assailants took the victims away without firing shots and fled to an unknown destination.
As of Tuesday morning, there has been no contact from the abductors and no ransom demand has been reported. The family and local authorities are deeply concerned for the safety of the victims.
Alhaji Yusuf Alhasan, a dedicated party leader and public servant, has been actively involved in community development and political activities in Yauri LGA. This brazen attack on his family has sent shockwaves through the local government and the broader Kebbi State political community.
The APC in Kebbi State strongly condemns this criminal act and calls on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and other relevant authorities, to immediately launch a coordinated rescue operation to secure the safe and unconditional release of the chairman’s wife and son.
“We urge the security forces to act swiftly and decisively. Such attacks undermine the peace and stability of our communities and must not be tolerated,” a party source said.
Residents of Yauri and surrounding areas have expressed fears over the rising incidents of banditry and kidnapping in parts of Northwestern Nigeria and are appealing to the government at all levels to intensify efforts to curb insecurity in the region.
The family of Alhaji Yusuf Alhasan requests the prayers and support of well-meaning Nigerians during this difficult time and appeals for any credible information that could aid the rescue efforts to be shared with security agencies.
