The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, has declared that the support of all 36 state governors for President Bola Tinubu will not determine the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Obi emphasized the power of the Nigerian people over political structures, drawing from his performance in the 2023 election.

“For the 2027 election, it doesn’t matter if all 36 governors are with President Tinubu. I didn’t have a single governor in the last election, yet I won 12 states, even after they stole two states from me,” Obi stated.

The NDC presidential candidate noted that true change in Nigeria will be driven by the will of the people rather than incumbency advantages or gubernatorial control. He expressed confidence that the growing momentum behind the NDC and its alliance will translate into victory in 2027.

Obi reiterated his commitment to engaging with all stakeholders, including addressing the concerns of agitators, while focusing on economic recovery, security, and national unity. He called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and actively participate in the democratic process.

The NDC remains focused on building a credible alternative that prioritizes competence, transparency, and people-centered governance for the 2027 elections.
