The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The development was announced on Wednesday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, in a statement shared by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The promotions form part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Between 8 June and 17 July 2026, the FCT witnessed the commissioning and flag-off of over 30 projects in commemoration of the milestone.
Ezeh described the approval as a clear demonstration of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to staff welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He disclosed that promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted between 1 and 3 July, while junior staff sat for their examinations on 10 July.
The Commission Chairman commended Minister Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the exercise to be carried out successfully. He also revealed that the Minister has directed the Commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory. For us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President,” Ezeh stated.
The Commission further advised prospective candidates for the 2026 exercise to begin preparations early, noting that promotions in the FCT Civil Service remain merit-based, competitive, and subject to the availability of vacancies.
