The Lagos State Chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) was formally inaugurated today at Marcellina’s Place in Ikeja, Lagos, with a firm commitment to mobilise youths and grassroots supporters across the state in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The event drew political leaders, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, youth leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It marks a significant expansion of the youth-driven organisation, which was founded in 2022 to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration, Lagos State Director Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe described the launch as more than the establishment of another state chapter. He said it represents a call to mobilise and empower Nigerian youths to participate actively and responsibly in national development. Ogunlewe expressed appreciation to the movement’s founder and Patron, Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu, for his commitment to responsible leadership, noting that the group’s mandate extends beyond elections to promoting national unity, discipline, constitutional values, and youth inclusion.
“Every youth in Nigeria is welcome into the group. Our strategy is to campaign across the country, reaching every ward, community and polling unit. We will go to communities and every part of the state,” Ogunlewe stated. He emphasised that the vision prioritises educational advancement and long-term opportunities for young Nigerians beyond the 2027 polls.
National Director-General Mr. Tosin Shoga (also referred to as Francis Oluwatosin Shoga) characterised the Lagos inauguration as “a serious mission” and a major step in building a formidable youth platform for Nigeria’s political and developmental process. “The City Boy Movement has become a vehicle that carries the Renewed Hope Agenda to every corner of the country. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the grassroots and the government and ensure that the people are mobilised to support the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Shoga said.
South-West Coordinator Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala charged members to serve as worthy ambassadors and announced the zone’s ambitious target. “We in the South-West promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nothing less than eight million votes, and you are the ambassadors of those votes,” he declared.
The City Boy Movement, which maintains structures across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, focuses on youth empowerment, civic education, political mobilisation, and grassroots engagement. It aims to communicate the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration directly to citizens while encouraging greater youth participation in democratic processes.
