The family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, in collaboration with the Central Planning Committee, has announced that the first anniversary remembrance prayers for the esteemed leader will take place on Monday, July 13, 2026, in Abuja.
This solemn event will bring together President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Buhari family, government officials, religious leaders, associates, and well-wishers to honour the life and legacy of the late President, who passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.
The programme, scheduled to commence at 12 noon at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre, Asokoro, Abuja, will feature interfaith and interdenominational prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul. Religious leaders from various faiths and denominations will lead supplications, reflecting the late President’s lifelong commitment to national unity, faith, and peaceful coexistence.
A highlight of the remembrance will be the public presentation of a commemorative book titled “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Special Guest of Honour. Select close associates of the late President will also share reflections on his historical legacy and contributions to Nigeria’s development.
Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated: “This first anniversary is not only a time for prayer but also an opportunity to celebrate the life of a man who dedicated his service to the nation. President Buhari’s commitment to integrity, security, and infrastructure development continues to inspire millions of Nigerians. We invite all who wish to join in these prayers to come together in unity and gratitude.”
