The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) gubernatorial candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has commended the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, for his unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in public life, noting that this principled stance has earned him profound respect across Nigeria.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement in Kano, Gwarzo highlighted Obi’s consistent advocacy for open governance, fiscal prudence, and ethical leadership as qualities that set him apart in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Mr. Peter Obi’s transparency stance is not just rhetoric; it is a lived principle that has defined his public service,” Gwarzo stated. “From his days as Governor of Anambra State to his current national role, he has demonstrated that public office is a sacred trust. This integrity has earned him genuine respect from Nigerians across regions, ethnic groups, and faiths. In a time when many politicians evade scrutiny, Obi embraces it and that is why he continues to inspire hope.”

Gwarzo emphasized that Obi’s approach aligns perfectly with the NDC’s vision for a new Nigeria built on good governance, reduced corruption, and people-centered development. He noted that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket represents a coalition of leaders committed to verifiable results rather than empty promises.

The Kano NDC gubernatorial candidate further stressed the importance of transparency in addressing the state’s challenges, including infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, and agricultural modernization. “If elected governor, I will draw inspiration from Peter Obi’s model of accountable leadership to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Kano,” he added.

This endorsement comes amid growing momentum for the NDC’s “OK Ticket” ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders and supporters praising the focus on ethical governance as a cornerstone for national renewal.

Peter Obi has repeatedly called for open budgeting, citizen engagement, and the elimination of waste in government, positions that have resonated strongly in Kano and across northern Nigeria.
