Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, has dismissed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a failure, describing it as “renewed hopelessness.”
Speaking during an appearance on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Obi rejected any comparison between his vision of rebuilding the Nigerian economy through production and the current administration’s policy framework.
“No, no that’s renewed hopelessness. It’s not working,” Obi stated.
He insisted that Nigerians deserve “real hope” grounded in visible and measurable progress rather than political slogans. “The kind of hope I’ll bring is real hope tangible hope that people will see and feel,” he added.
Obi further criticised the administration for what he described as a failure to communicate effectively with citizens. He noted that President Tinubu had withdrawn from direct engagement with the public.
“It’s not even ‘audio hope’ because the man we voted for isn’t even talking to us anymore,” Obi said. “The person we voted for is Bola Tinubu. He’s no longer talking to us; he’s gone into Aso Rock and turned it into a bunker.”
The former Anambra State Governor maintained that leadership requires consistent communication and accountability, arguing that the absence of both has deepened public despair. He reiterated his commitment to delivering results that ordinary Nigerians can experience in their daily lives if elected president in 2027.
Obi’s comments form part of his broader critique of the current administration’s economic and governance performance as the nation moves toward the next general election.
